My Counseling Philosophy:
I believe that we have positive and negative experiences in life that form how we view our world today, and it becomes a guide for how we handle life’s challenges. Sometimes the negative experiences can affect how we feel about ourselves, the interactions in our relationships, and how we behave when life becomes stressful. In counseling, my goal is to help people manage their life and relationships in a more positive, effective way. Counseling is a place for you to be yourself and work through areas of your life that are difficult with someone who is non-judgmental and objective. I believe in integrating therapy with insight, spirituality, and humor when appropriate. Previous clients would identify me as personable, honest, and encouraging.
You may have heard the saying that “life is a journey, not a destination”. It’s a saying that I can very well relate to as my life has many twists and turns.
My original goal, before counseling, was a career in finance. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance from Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois, with the intention of providing a safe and secure environment to raise a family. While “society” might have considered me successful in many ways, I knew that I was not fulfilling my life’s purpose. I began to discover my purpose as I began a process of self discovery, followed by leading a marriage mentoring program with my wife for those who struggled in their relationships. Through life’s twists and turns, I took a step of faith and ventured into the profession of counseling where I have the privilege of journeying through life with my clients for a brief period of time. Each day, I have the opportunity to explore, understand, and help change lives using my education, life experience, and love for people.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Idaho and service people in Boise including , Meridian, Eagle, Star, Kuna, and Nampa area. I received my master’s degree in Marriage & Family Counseling from Northwest Nazarene University. Currently I am serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. I am a member of the American Counseling Association, National Board of Certified Counselors, and Idaho Counseling Association.
Each of my clients receives a highly personalized approach tailored to his or her needs by using complimentary, evidenced-based methodologies. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on his or her strengths and attain the growth for which they are striving.
